Lockdown portrait

We’re living in confronting times, when tiny acts of kindness mean even more than usual.

Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae)
1/400, f/5.6, ISO 400
Canon 5DIII, Canon 100-400L IS USM

I haven’t been able to get out and about for photography this week so asked my Lightroom catalogue to show me some processed 5 star images. The first one was this emu close-up. What absolutely magnificent birds they are. This confronting stare seems to reflect the times, somehow staring into my soul. It made me wonder if I’ve been doing enough for others during lockdowns, and made me grateful for all the big and little kindnesses that are happening as we care about each other and work through these challenging times together.

Sales of my work increase during lockdowns, maybe nature-lovers are treating themselves or getting organised with birthday and Christmas gifts – all items are excellent quality and fully guaranteed. Redbubble doesn’t let me share discount codes but as part of my lirralirra family please send me a private email if there’s something you’d like and I’ll organise a generous discount.
