Yellow Robin

Last week I was out of action while languishing in hospital but strangely it was also a week when a small flurry of photographic positives came my way.

Each year the Victorian Association of Photographic Societies (VAPS) holds a convention that is well attended and includes presentations and an awards dinner – I believe similar associations are available in other states and territories. It was an honour that my image was chosen as one of several images representing Knox Photographic Society, and a greater honour when it won a VAPS award.

I joined Knox Photographic Society (KPS) thanks to my eldest daughter ripping an article from the local newspaper, I’m so glad she did. Over the past three years KPS have offered awesome friendship, education and encouragement. If you have been considering joining a club I’d recommend visiting one, if you happen to live in or around Knox and decide to try KPS please come and say ‘hi’.

When I got home from hospital I didn’t go inside straight away, instead I walked into the garden and down to the bushland. I savoured the cool breeze and the soft rain, and a small flock of Brown Thornbills and Striated Thornbills flew over my head and around me – it was magical. And in the morning, just as I woke, I heard an Eastern Yellow Robin calling and wondered if it was the sweet bird in the image above.

Happy birding and good health to you all

Kim

PS
– My apologies for the ridiculously large copyright symbol, I’m too tired to fix it
– Thank you for the kind words in last week’s comments, they are very much appreciated
– The other specks of good news were receiving a medal from Switzerland and again being listed in the PSA Who’s Who of Nature Photographers
