This female Superb Fairywren was foraging among the pebbles at Cranbourne Royal Botanic Gardens. She moved crazily quickly as she darted after bugs and focussing on her tiny eye was quite a challenge.
The soft, warm colours in this shot are very appealing to me. By setting my aperture wide open this tiny fairywren is isolated from the background. I find myself examining every detail of her daintiness, from the tip of her tail to the tip of her bill (complete with specks of dirt), right down to her dainty feet and her sharp little nails.
