So, so cute! I was desperate for some outside time so I grabbed my camera and off I went to see what visited the birdbaths. For the first forty minutes it was just me and the butterflies but then the fun began.

It was fabulous watching all the birds that turned up but especially cute to see this juvenile New Holland Honeyeater begging for food while the rest of the crowd were busy splashing around in the water.
Juvenile New Hollands are browner than the adult birds, their gapes are yellow, their markings are diffused and their eyes are blue-grey rather than the startling ‘goggle eye’ white of the adults.

The youngster finally seemed to realise that they were there to bathe and drink rather than eat and it gingerly made its way down to the water.
It has just gone midnight which means that this week’s lirralirra post is a little late – sorry about that.
