I had planned to share some super exciting news this week but I can’t make it work in time so will share this gorgeous photograph instead.

I was supposed to be working at my desk when this Eastern Yellow Robin landed outside my window – I’m always glancing outside, just the way I did in primary school, though these days no one tells me off for doing it! Luckily my camera was nearby so I grabbed it and took this shot through the window.

I couldn’t resist the lighting, or the way it was posing with its wing feathers spread so prettily, or the way the golden robinia in the background highlights the golden yellow of the robin’s underparts. I don’t recommend planting golden robinia, it suckers horribly and the suckers have seriously sharp thorns that seem to go out of their way to attack me.

I’ve worked crazily hard in the garden today and feel like I used to when I played badminton and worked out, only these days it means I did the mowing (including the bottom paddock), pulled grass and blackberries from the lomandra plants and heavily pruned a crabapple tree (which I couldn’t have managed without the step ladder and a pair of loppers). I also tried to fix my gravel driveway that was seriously chewed up by a lovely visitor who isn’t used to driving on gravel (or sand, or mud…). I won’t know if the raking, watering and attempt to compact it by driving back and forth over it multiple times on the mower will actually work, until it rains, and hopefully doesn’t flood the garage.

Anyways, I hope you all have a delightful Easter weekend wherever you are and whatever you celebrate, and next week I will plan to share the news that keeps me smiling.
