Christmas Spinebill

A slightly late Christmas spinebill but very, very beautiful none-the-less.

Eastern Spinebill on lichen covered branch

I spent most of today working on the final fuel-reduction burn of the year. It’s been such a busy few days that I completely forgot that yesterday was Friday.

Eastern Spinebills are such exquisite little birds. I often think of them as our closest equivalent to hummingbirds as both species are tiny and hover for nectar.

Wishing everyone a 2026 filled with love, laughter, health and birdsong (and no quarry expansions).

Happy birding, Kim
