Australian Wood Duck

Australian Wood Duck to the rescue! Apologies for the ‘lost’ link, hopefully all is well now.

Australian Wood Duck

I took this image when staying in a cabin alongside the Murray River in Mildura. This female wood duck was lurking with several other ducks, including a large family group of Pacific Black Ducks, all hoping to be fed.

I love this bird’s expression and the detailed reflection in her eye where you can see the cabin, trees, blue skies and the start of the sunset. The background is the red desert dust, drought affected and with minimal greenery somehow clinging to life.

Sorry that this post is so brief but the host is upgrading the server, which I thought I had done successfully a few weeks ago only to find issues emerging now. Many thanks to Joy for helping with the muddle. If you need help establishing or maintaining a website she is an absolute gem and can be contacted at Feral Art.

Oh, before I go, thank you so much for your support of the lirralirra 2014 calendar. For a while it was Redbubble’s top selling aussie bird calendar which is great as 100% of profits will be donated to Friends of the Helmeted Honeyeater. I had a record number of site visits last Friday and a record number of Facebok likes (most of which were lodged on the homepage rather than the post itself) – thank you so much for caring and sharing.

Wishing you a relaxed and happy Christmas filled with love and kindness, wherever you are and whatever your beliefs.

We are united in our love of nature, happy birding, Kim

Thank you to all ‘Facebook likers’ – it’s lovely to know that you enjoyed the post
