Australian Ringneck

This Mallee Ringneck is the bird I photographed on the morning that I was the coldest and the hottest that I’ve been all year.

Mallee Ringneck - Kim Wormald Mallee Ringneck (Barnardius zonarius)

The Mallee Ringneck is a sub-species of the Australian Ringneck that can be found at Gluepot Reserve, a place I hope to visit again soon. The detail in this bird’s tail makes me think about what the bird has been doing to wear its feathers. I like the the blossom is dangling in front of a clear background so it can be seen clearly.

Christmas guests are calling so I must rush away, I hope you all are having a peaceful and relaxing Christmas that is filled with birdsong.

Happy birding, Kim
